9A Testing Hypothesis Part 2

Opportunity: It is difficult for college students to maintain a healthy and well balanced diet without spending too much time and money on food buying and cooking food. This is because many college students are extremely busy studying, working, and being involved in clubs so they have very little time to cook a healthy meal for themselves. Also, healthy foods such as fresh produce are much more costly than food sold at unhealthy “fast-food” type restaurants.  This problem can be solved if there was place on or near campus that provided students with cheap and healthy meal plans everyday. Interviews: 1. Amber, 20, University of Florida, nursing student: Amber says that the biggest struggle when it comes to maintaining a healthy diet for her is actually finding the time to go out buy the healthy foods and prepare it herself. She explained that her schedule is more packed than ever since getting into the nursing program. After mentioning my idea of a place that provides healt...

Hannah Moss ENT3003 1.  Economic Opportunity: 'If you get to 700, 750, we'll cut your mortgage costs a little bit': JPMorgan is working on ways to reward you for improving your credit score, and it may be the future of consumer finance A) Where opportunity was found: https://www.businessinsider.com/jpmorgan-introducing-gamification-for-credit-scores-2018-9 B) Why I believe this opportunity exists: JPMorgan Chase is planning on rewarding people for having good credit scores.  According to JPMorgan Chase the firm wants to provide incentives for people with good credit such as reducing loan costs if people lift their scores to a specific threshold.  C) Most likely Customer of this Opportunity: A person who would benefit from this is simply a person who meets the credit score threshold amount.  D) This may sound like a simple thing for JPMorgan Chase to accomplish, however it could be difficult for them to decide on exactly what the incentives will be....

5A Identifying Local Opportunities

Hannah Moss ENT3003 5A Identifying Local Opportunities September 13, 2018 1. Miami Beach set its own minimum wage. Now it’s being fought before state Supreme Court. https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/miami-dade/miami-beach/article218296535.html This article tells the story of how Miami set it’s minimum wage to $10.31 an hour in 2016 and planned for it to annual increase to $13.31 an hour by January 2021. However, last month justices agreed to block this minimum wage ordinance. The problem now is that for the last two years the people of Miami have been receiving a minimum wage of $10.31 and now it is being lowered to $8.25. I think that a better way to solve this issue is to slowly lower it so people can get used to the change. 2.  He was tagged ‘Scumbag of the Week.’ Now, the frat member is suing over injuries https://www.miamiherald.com/news/state/florida/article218325480.html In  April 2018, a 20 year old named Mauricio who was in the frat...

Hannah Moss 4A Opportunity Belief

Hannah Moss ENT3003 -4A Forming an Opportunity Belief September 6, 2018 Forming an Opportunity Belief: A Twist on Opportunity Identification From my experiences many of the students around me at the University of Florida, especially my close acquaintances  have a very hard time managing their time and schedules. They are constantly complaining about being stressed out and not having enough time to study and succeed in their classes, go to the gym, and have fun with friends. What I have noticed is that students simply do not know how to maximize their time and organize their day so they can fit every aspect of their lives into each day without spreading themselves too thin. I think that most students would benefit from using a calendar or having a specific everyday “to-do list” to help them stay on track and organized. . The first person I spoke to was my best friend Amber who is a first year nursing student at the University of Florida. Amber has always had an easy...

Hannah Moss Entrepreneurship Story

Hannah Moss ENT3003- My Entrepreneurship Story September 5, 2018 When I was in high school, I was introduced to the concept of entrepreneurship when I started my own little business. I have always enjoyed drawing and painting and would doodle any time I got the chance. In eleventh grade my little sister asked me to paint on a pair of shoes for her. I I did it, I immediately got numerous requests from other people to paint on their shoes and decided to start a business called HMkicks (you can find on instagram as @hmkickss). I have been running HMkicks for almost five years now and have painted on hundreds of different shoes. Entrepreneurship is a huge part of my business, I am constantly thinking of new and innovative ways of promoting my shoes and bettering them. One of the ideas I had was to team up the owners of Superga which is an Italian sneaker line that recently opened up a store in my hometown area. This summer during the world cup I worked at their store, painting the...

Hannah Moss Bug List

Moss, Hannah ENT3003 -2A Bug List September 5, 2018 Bug List: There is way too much traffic on archer road during rush hour. WHY: Because almost everyone in Gainesville works with or at UF and everyone leaves for work at the same time and goes home from work at the same time so archer road is very crowded during those hours. 2. The UF wifi is sometimes really slow and/ or hard to connect to. WHY: Because thousands of students try to connect to it at the same time and certain buildings and areas have limited connection. 3. My shower does not get as hot as want it to in the mornings. WHY: All of my roommates and I shower at the same time in the morning before our classes so warm water is scarce. 4. The gym classes at student rec get filled up to quick so it is hard to sign up for them. WHY: There are not enough rooms in the gym to hold classes in and not enough teachers to give classes. 5. My Iphone dies too quickly. WHY: Because the screen drains too much b...
