ENT3003- My Entrepreneurship Story
September 5, 2018
When I was in high school, I was introduced to the concept of entrepreneurship when I started my own little business. I have always enjoyed drawing and painting and would doodle any time I got the chance. In eleventh grade my little sister asked me to paint on a pair of shoes for her. I I did it, I immediately got numerous requests from other people to paint on their shoes and decided to start a business called HMkicks (you can find on instagram as @hmkickss). I have been running HMkicks for almost five years now and have painted on hundreds of different shoes. Entrepreneurship is a huge part of my business, I am constantly thinking of new and innovative ways of promoting my shoes and bettering them. One of the ideas I had was to team up the owners of Superga which is an Italian sneaker line that recently opened up a store in my hometown area. This summer during the world cup I worked at their store, painting the flags of countries on customers’ shoes. Both Superga and myself benefitted from the experience. I took this course firstly because it was mandatory for me to take, but also because entrepreneurship is very fascinating and important to me.

Hey Hannah,
ReplyDeleteAwesome post! It’s really cool that you have first hand experience in entrepreneurship, and especially because it is doing something so unique. I think that your business has the potential to be very lucrative. Painting shoes will more than likely be a niche market, but with sneakers being as popular as they are I believe that the ability to have a pair customized is perhaps a desire that is not being met by the market currently. Good luck with your business!
Hello Hannah! I am actually in a fraternity at The University of Florida and I have seen so many sorority girls wearing these shoes at tailgates. This is a great business because girls want to be super trendy and these shoes seem to fit that. That's so cool that you used your artistic ability to become an entrepreneur and open up your own little business.
