30A final reflection

After reading through all of my blog posts, it blows my mind how much we have done in this class and how much I have grown.  It’s crazy how fast four months can go by and how much you can change and learn within that time. What sticks out to me as I reflect on all of my blog posts is my first elevator pitch. I was so beyond nervous to film it for some reason and I took at least 25 videos before getting the right one. It was definitely my lowest point in this class because it was extremely difficult for me to memorize the pitch I had written and say it effortlessly and confidently. On the second pitch I realized maybe I don’t need to memorize and instead just try to get my main points across and talk to my screen as if it was just a normal person asking about my business. This made my pitch a lot easier to give and by the 3rd pitch I felt like a professional. My most joyous experience is a tie between recording my 3rd elevator and feeling good about it the first time I recorded it or when I wrote my first venture concept. Writing my venture concept really made me feel like I am going in the right direction with my business and re-reading it assured me that it could be a great success. Also, getting many positive responses on that post was a great feeling. I definitely feel like more of an entrepreneur now than I did in the beginning of this class. I feel like I learned so much about what entrepreneur’s must consider and constantly think about when having their own business. If I had to give a recommendation to a future student I would simply tell them to take their time thinking about their business, it is not as hard as they are going to think it is, and it is really enjoyable if you put time and effort into it.

  1. Hi Hannah,
You did a really good job on this assignment talking about the course and all you endured this past semester. I totally agree with you that the first elevator was the most nerve-wracking. I also took many attempts to get it right. I also agree that picking a good venture idea, that you care about, to focus on in this course would be extremely helpful and beneficial. Being able to use something that you really care about would be the smarter way to take this course. Overall, great job on the assignment and in the course.

  2. Hannah,
I really like how you included how much this course affected and the growth you gained from it. I think that the best part of this course is the peer reviews we receive that allow us to adapt and change our product for the better like real entrepreneurs do. Yes, the elevator pitch may have been the most nerve-wracking, but I believe that it made me become better at public speaking which is what I struggle at the most, in my opinion. Great work this semester.

  3. Hey Hannah, I would have to agree that the Elevator Pitch was by far the hardest assignment of the semester. Writing a script for it wasn't that hard, but actually performing it in front of a camera was much more difficult. I was also very cool to go back and review all my old assignments and see how my product grew over time.
